Informant says Vick bet thousands on dogfights
Summary from United States, from articles in English
The prosecutor in the investigation of a possible dogfighting operation at a Richmond, Va., house owned by Atlanta Falcons quarterback Michael Vick is confident charges will be brought. (article 4) A study of more than 2,500 retired NFL players found that those who had at least three concussions during their careers had triple the risk of clinical depression as those who had no concussions. (article 1) Those who recalled one or two concussions were 1 1/2 times more likely to be diagnosed with depression, said Kevin Guskiewicz of the University of North Carolina's Center for the Study of Retired Athletes. (article 1) In addition, The Boston Globe and The New York Times reported in February that Ted Johnson shows early signs of Alzheimer's disease. (article 1) NFL clubs will no longer be allowed to serve alcohol at team functions or on buses or flights, extending a ban that until now applied only in locker rooms. (article 2) NFL owners and executives were told yesterday by commissioner Roger Goodell that the rule pertains not only to players, but also to owners, coaches and guests. (article 2) The informant said his dog beat Vick's dog in 2000, the year before Vick was chosen by the Falcons in the NFL draft. (article 3)
