ABC News: Pelosi Delegate Stance Boosts Obama
Summary from multiple countries, from articles in English
That move meant a total of 313 delegates are not represented in the national convention in August, and the two states have been struggling to come up with alternative plans to redo their primaries to ensure their delegates are seated. (article 5) Weeks before Pennsylvania holds its primary on April 22, states such as Iowa, Texas and Nevada will conduct the next round of voting in the multistep process of choosing delegates to the national convention this summer. (article 11) Nancy Pelosi told ABC News' George Stephanopoulos on Friday that it would be "harmful" to Democrats if superdelegates were to give the party's presidential nomination to a candidate who is trailing in the delegates awarded in primaries and caucuses. (article 13) Although Pelosi offered her assessment without directly referencing Barack Obama, her comments lend considerable support to the Illinois Democrat. (article 13) That's the latest, unexpected consequence of the decision by state Democratic leaders to advance the primary to Feb. 12, when Maryland, Virginia and the District of Columbia will have the national spotlight to themselves. (article 12) The AP tracks the delegate races by calculating the number of national convention delegates won by candidates in each presidential primary or caucus, based on state and national party rules, and by interviewing unpledged delegates to obtain their preferences. (article 10)
