Davidson draws Gonzaga and a short trip for NCAA tournament
Summary from United States, from articles in English
By tying a conference record with 8 of its 16 teams earning entries, the Big East had more teams make the N.C.A.A. tournament than any other league. (article 1) The N.C.A.A. unveiled its field for the 2008 men's basketball tournament Sunday, with a few familiar faces missing and teams from outside college basketball's six power conferences still struggling for representation. (article 2) Indicative of the volatile nature of college basketball, the teams that played for the national title last season - Florida and Ohio State - were not included in this year's field of 65. (article 2) Cal State Fullerton, the Big West tournament champion, also is headed for Omaha the site of many triumphs by its baseball team earning a No. 14 seeding and a game against third-seeded Wisconsin, the Big Ten champion. (article 4) SPOKANE No. 21 Washington State is seeded No. 4 and will face 13th seed Winthrop in the NCAA tournament East Regional on Thursday in Denver's Pepsi Center. (article 8) For dramatic effect, the NCAA tournament might not be able to match an audience composed mostly of tuba and trombone sections, or making a team play twice in one day. (article 7) All four Wildcat teams jumped off the bubble and into the brackets on a long, anxious Sunday afternoon. (article 3)
