Home sales and prices continue to go downhill -
Summary from multiple countries, from articles in English
Those rapidly falling values helped push the overall national price down 3.1 percent, the sharpest drop since OFHEO began tracking the numbers 17 years ago. (article 2) The long slide in home sales may be nearing an end, but that doesn't mean prices are going to rise anytime soon. (article 8) Although sales usually rise between March and April (an average of 4.7 percent a year the past two decades), some people saw last month's unusually big surge as a sign the market may be bottoming out. (article 8) The lender said prices were now 4.4% lower than a year ago, a drop of $8,000, which has taken the average UK house price down to $173,583. (article 11) The Office of Federal Housing Enterprise Oversight said Thursday that home prices fell 3.1 percent in the first quarter compared with last year. (article 1) America's home-buying season, when for-sale signs sprout like dandelions, is shaping up to be even worse than expected this year, with prices falling, sales slowing and few signs of a turnaround emerging. (article 7) The Commerce report on new home sales showed the April rebound was led by a huge 41.7 percent surge in sales in the Northeast. (article 6)
