'Burnett Show' comic actor Harvey Korman dies (Entertainment, 8 articles)
Harvey Korman, the award-winning comedic actor who rose to fame playing second banana to Carol Burnett on her television variety series and who starred in hit movies like "Blazing Saddles" and " High Anxiety died on Thursday in Los Angeles. The cause was complications from the rupture of an abdominal aortic aneurysm four months ago, his family said in a statement released by the University of California at Los Angeles Medical Center. Korman, who appeared in a number of other Mel Brooks films, was also known for co-starring in US TV classic The Carol Burnett Show. LOS ANGELES - Harvey Korman, the tall, versatile comedian who won four Emmys for his outrageously funny contributions to "The Carol Burnett Show" and played a conniving politician to hilarious effect in " Blazing Saddles died Thursday. Brooks tapped Mr. Korman's kinetic comic chops often, including roles in "High Anxiety" The History of the World Part I and " Dracula: Dead and Loving It.


Microsoft unveils new touchscreen Windows (Entertainment, 6 articles)

Microsoft is signalling the end of the mouse with its latest operating system, which aims to build on the success of its rival Apple's iPhone touch screen. Windows 7 will allow PC users to touch, rather than point and click, in a move which indicates that the world's most influential software company believes that the days of the keyboard-mouse combination are coming to an end.

Several companies that offer laser etching of laptops, iPhones and other gadgets report that demand for personalization services has never been higher. There's a widespread notion that pornographers eagerly jump on new technology long before it goes mainstream, but with Apple Computer's new video-playing iPod, the adult industry is largely staying away. With a couple of exceptions, porno producers are in no hurry to provide stag movies for the iPod, thanks to fears of a public outcry and a government crackdown.

Cynthia Nixon Keeps 'Sex' Secrets (Entertainment, 4 articles)

Potter Was Still Magical, but Not All Books Rose (Entertainment, 4 articles)
Publishers sold 3.13 billion books last year, compared with 3.1 billion in 2006, an increase of just 0.9 percent, according to Book Industry Trends 2008, an annual report that analyzes sales in the United States. The Book Industry Study Group, a nonprofit organization supported by the publishing industry, projects a 3 percent to 4 percent growth through 2011, when revenues should top $43 billion. The BISG expects little change in the actual number of books sold and sees a drop in the general trade market by more than 60 million, from 2.282 billion copies in 2007 to 2.220 billion in 2011.
