THE MONKEY KING (Entertainment, 11 articles)
STORY SO FAR: Jade Emperor, learning of Monkey's great mischief, sends Vaisravana, his best general, and thousand of soldiers to Earth, with orders to arrest Monkey. LED by Vaisravane, one hundred thousand heavenly soldiers arrived at the Mountain of Flowers and Fruits and surrounded Monkey's Cave of the Water Curtain. Ten thousand monkeys were fanned out in front of his palace under a red and gold flag upon which was written: MAGNIFICENT MONKEY KING, GREATEST OF ALL. Stone Monkey, having led the monkey clan through the waterfall to the Cave of The Water Curtain, becomes Magnificent Monkey King and ponders what to do next. Sitting on his jeweled throne, surrounded by his beloved monkeys, Monkey should have had the happiest day of his life. STORY SO FAR: When the Magician Lang fails to defeat Monkey, the Goddess Guan-yin flings down a magic vase which falls atop Monkey and traps him. A long path lined with rubies wound through and around the peach trees, leading to eight red pagodas carved with golden dragons. Monkey quickly realized that if he did not act quickly, the fairies were going to report his thefts of the peaches to the Jade Emperor.

Yves Saint Laurent, the French fashion designer who created a bold new dress code for women during the feminist revolution of the 1970s and helped launch the era of the celebrity designer with his jet-set lifestyle, died Sunday at 71. The death of the reclusive fashion great was announced by la Fondation Berge-Saint Laurent, the body he created with Pierre Berge, his business partner and lover. Forty years of fashion were paraded in a 300-piece retrospective that blurred the boundaries of time, mixing his creations of yesterday and today in one stunning tribute to the endurance of Mr. Saint Laurent's style.

Harvey Korman, Emmy award winning comedian, dies at 81 - (Entertainment, 5 articles)
In this Sept. 18, 1978, photo, comic actors Harvey Korman, left, and Tim Conway show off three Emmy Awards for The Carol Burnett Show. Harvey Korman, the tall, versatile comedian who won four Emmys for his outrageously funny contributions to The Carol Burnett Show and played a conniving politician to hilarious effect in Blazing Saddles died yesterday. Mr. Korman died at UCLA Medical Center after suffering complications from the rupture of an abdominal aortic aneurysm four months ago, his family said.
