Trainer Still Running His Mouth as Big Brown Has His Final Gallop
Summary from United States, from articles in English
Dutrow said unbeaten Big Brown could have his final serious workout before the 1 1/2 -mile Belmont as early as Sunday and as late as next Wednesday, depending on the weather. (article 6) The bay colt threw a scare into Dutrow when a quarter crack, about three-quarters of an inch long, was discovered Friday. (article 6) So much so that when Dutrow and McKinlay spoke Monday night, it was decided if the trainer thought the hoof looked good in the morning, a trip around Belmont Park would be in order. (article 6) The House Subcommittee on Commerce, Trade and Consumer Protection sent letters last week to several industry leaders, asking for their views on the sport. (article 6) Hoof specialist Ian McKinlay planned to apply the acrylic and fiberglass patch Monday, but decided to wait a few days so the crack could heal naturally. (article 7) Before applying the patch, McKinlay will remove the sutures, clean the area, redrill holes and put in new sutures. (article 7) Trainer Rick Dutrow stood by remarks made this week that victory in the mile-and-a-half race was a "foregone conclusion" and jockey Kent Desormeaux said Big Brown's power would be too much for the second favorite , Casino Drive.
