Summary from United States, from articles in English
p Anew study finds that closing costs on home loans vary widely and that African Americans, Latinos and people in neighborhoods with fewer college graduates tend to pay more. (article 6) To help with this, two federal agencies have proposed risk-based pricing alert procedures that would cover all lending situations - home mortgages, credit cards, auto loans, among others. (article 10) Under the formula used to determine the new rate on a consolidated loan, lenders use a weighted average of the interest rates on all your loans and then round it up to the nearest one-eighth of 1 percent. (article 3) Efforts are under way to make sure that nothing stands between students and these loans in light of turmoil in the financial markets. (article 2) F inding the money for college during this widening credit crunch just got easier, thanks to emergency legislation signed by the president last week. (article 4) The funding gap between the average four-year cost of going to a state college and available federal loans is at least $22,000, according to the company. (article 7) The practice suggests that if the credit crisis and the ensuing turmoil in the student loan business persist, some of the nation's neediest students will be hurt the most. (article 5)
