Raw tomatoes may have caused salmonella in Texas and New Mexico, officials say

The agency suggested people only eat tomatoes that haven't been connected to the outbreak, including cherry tomatoes, grape tomatoes, tomatoes sold with the vine attached and tomatoes grown at home. (article 3)
While no illnesses have been reported in Canada, the Canadian Food Inspection Agency said Tuesday it is working with the U.S. Food and Drug Administration and will remove affected tomatoes from the marketplace if they are identified as the source of contamination. (article 5)
In the meantime, the CFIA says consumers should wash tomatoes under running water thoroughly and wash their hands with soap and warm water before and after handling tomatoes. (article 5)
