Former Clinton Campaign Manager Joins Obama Team (U.S., 30 articles)
Mrs. Clinton won a close race in New Jersey, where voters said that the economy was the most important issue in deciding how to cast their vote, according to exit polls. The majority of the Hispanic voters, who make up roughly 20 percent of the total vote, sided with Mrs. Clinton, according to the exit polls, while black voters overwhelmingly supported Mr. Obama. Democratic primary voters overwhelmingly said that a candidate's ability to bring about needed change was the most important factor in the way they voted, and those voters supported Mr. Obama in large numbers. Illinois and Georgia were two states in which Democratic voters said that Mr. Obama would make a better commander in chief than Mrs. Clinton. In this state's caucus vote, which exit polls indicated would be close, Democrats were divided largely by ethnicity and age. DETROIT - Al Gore made his debut in the 2008 presidential campaign Monday night, encouraging voters to back Barack Obama because " take it from me, elections matter. WASHINGTON - Barack Obama's campaign named new senior advisers on Monday, including former Hillary Rodham Clinton campaign manager Patti Solis Doyle as chief of staff to the presidential candidate's yet-to-be-chosen running mate.
