Biti said his party's election agents had reported that early results posted at polling stations showed MDC leader Morgan Tsvangirai was projected to win 66 percent of the vote in the capital Harare, an opposition stronghold. Just hours after electoral officials said Mugabe won Friday's presidential runoff, which observers said was marred by violence and intimidation, the 84-year-old leader sounded a conciliatory note. Opposition leader Morgan Tsvangirai withdrew from the race a week before the vote because of intensifying political violence against supporters of his opposition Movement for Democratic Change, but the Mugabe government ignored international pressure to postpone the poll.

Lurking behind the Supreme Court s ruling last week that the Second Amendment protects an individual right to bear arms were a series of fascinating, disputed and now in many ways irrelevant questions. Gun-owning parents who think their children don't know where firearms are kept or haven't handled the weapons without permission may be in for a disturbing surprise. Why did the Supreme Court rule against the District? In a 5 to 4 opinion, the court said that the law, widely viewed as the strictest in the nation, violated Second Amendment rights.
