McCain, Obama pitch economic plans to Hispanics (U.S., 43 articles)
BARACK OBAMA and John McCain both reloaded their presidential campaigns this week with a renewed focus on the dire state of the nation's economy. WASHINGTON - In his first negative ad of the general election campaign, Democrat Barack Obama said John McCain is "part of the problem" of high gas prices and tried to parry Republican criticism of his own energy policy. WASHINGTON - The package of spending and tax cuts proposed by John McCain is unlikely to achieve his goal of balancing the federal budget by 2013, economists and fiscal experts said Monday. The Latino-American vote could be the decisive factor in November's U.S. presidential election, Democratic candidate Barack Obama said Tuesday as he and his Republican rival both appealed to the country's fastest-growing ethnocultural group. Todd said the ad will focus on energy, " which is emerging as a defining difference in the race for president. The Republican senator from Arizona said overhauling the country's broken immigration system, not just securing its borders, " will be my top priority. After yet another campaign staff shake-up, Sen. John McCain will try to repackage his economic plans by promising to balance the federal budget in four years.
