Obama: “I don't speak a foreign language. It's embarrassing!"
Summary from United States, from articles in English
CHICAGO - Comedian Bernie Mac endured some heckling and a campaign rebuke during a surprise appearance Friday night at a fundraiser for Democratic presidential candidate Barack Obama. (article 1) Toward the end of a 10-minute standup routine at the Hyatt Regency Hotel in downtown Chicago, the 50-year-old star of "The Bernie Mac Show" joked about menopause, sexual infidelity and promiscuity, and used occasional crude language. (article 1) Barack Obama's presidential campaign has requested information from Democratic Sen. Chris Dodd as part of its search for a possible vice presidential candidate. (article 8) I said, absolutely immigrants need to learn English, but we also need to learn foreign languages the likely Democratic nominee said as the 1,000-plus crowd in a school gymnasium cheered. (article 5) NEW YORK - Barack Obama stoked vice presidential speculation today with an unannounced stop at the Washington law firm of a search team member and then a flight to New York fundraisers with potential pick Hillary Clinton and a second vetter. (article 7) The midmorning stop was one of at least two that weren't on his public schedule, and aides would say only that Obama had private meetings planned while in Washington. (article 7) They wouldn't provide additional details, including whether Obama had met with Holder, a partner at Covington and Burling. (article 7)
