Peter Crouch happy to downsize by joining Portsmouth
Summary from the United Kingdom, from articles in English
Benitez's frustrations have at least been partially offset by the sale of Crouch, with Guthrie and Carson expected to follow suit. (article 2) Rafael Benitez has confirmed his interest in signing David Villa from Valencia as a replacement for Peter Crouch, whose transfer to Portsmouth should be finalised in the next 24 hours. (article 3) Fulham have signed two goalkeepers this summer, Mark Schwarzer and David Stockdale, and Roy Hodgson is prepared to let the 36-year-old go. (article 3) The 27-year-old returns to Pompey six years after leaving and will work with boss Harry Redknapp for the third time in his career. (article 5) As a summer of big spending kicks into gear, it could be said that there will not be many bigger moves than that of Peter Crouch from Liverpool to Portsmouth. (article 4) At about $11 million and at 6ft 7in, Crouch will probably represent better value - certainly per inch - than any other signing. (article 4) The sale of Crouch should bring Liverpool closer to a resolution over Barry, having had a bid worth $15million rejected by Villa last week, but the Liverpool manager's pursuit of Keane looks more problematic. (article 1)
