Actors guild weighs strategy as studios hold firm
Summary from multiple countries, from articles in English
The Alliance of Motion Picture and Television Producers on Friday released remarks made at a bargaining session Thursday by Carol Lombardini, the group's executive vice president for business and legal affairs. (article 1) The two sides met privately for more than five hours before the AMPTP released a statement saying the guild was "unreasonably" seeking more than other unions. (article 3) The American Federation of Television and Radio Artists said Tuesday that its members had ratified a three-year prime-time TV contract with studios with 62 percent of voting members supporting it, after fierce opposition from the larger Screen Actors Guild. (article 2) SAG, which said approval of the deal would undermine its own talks, responded by saying its bargaining was not yet done. (article 2) The top actors' union in Hollywood is now considering its next step after reports that it turned down a final contract offer by producers. (article 4) The Screen Actors Guild (SAG), which represents 120,000 members, released a statement late Friday saying its negotiating team is "discussion bargaining strategies" and " remains committed to continue to bargain for a fair contract. (article 4) " Our national negotiating committee did not, as has been erroneously reported, reject the AMPTP's offer SAG said in its statement on Friday. (article 4)
