VIDEO: Lawyers release first-ever footage of Guantanamo interrogation
Summary from multiple countries, from articles in English
The video is blurry and the soundtrack muffled, but the technical shortcomings of the video recordings released Tuesday did not obscure the emotions of Omar Khadr as he was interrogated at the Guantanamo Bay detention center in Cuba. (article 1) The video tape, made public by order of a Canadian court, showed Mr Khadr during four days of questioning by Canadian intelligence agents. (article 6) Lawyers for a Canadian prisoner at the American Guantanamo Bay detention camp released hours of videotaped interrogations Tuesday, providing a first-ever glimpse into the secretive world of questioning enemy combatants at the isolated U.S. prison in Cuba. (article 4) Prime Minister Stephen Harper's office stood firm Tuesday in the face of growing calls for Omar Khadr's repatriation from Guantanamo Bay following the release of 2003 interrogation videotapes showing the detainee weeping and begging for help. (article 7) TORONTO In a video released today, a 16-year-old captured in Afghanistan cries out for his mother and says he needs treatment for his battle wounds during questioning by Canadian officials at the U.S. military prison in Guantanamo Bay. (article 5) The 10 minutes of video selected by Omar Khadr's Canadian lawyers from more than seven hours of footage recorded by a camera hidden in a vent provides the first glimpse of interrogations at the U.S. military prison. (article 5)
