Packers say Vikings tampered with Brett Favre (Sports, 11 articles)
The Green Bay Packers have filed tampering charges against the Minnesota Vikings alleging that the team made inappropriate contact with Brett Favre, a person familiar with the Packers' complaint said Wednesday night. The person, who requested anonymity because of the sensitivity of the subject, said Packers officials have expressed their belief that interest from the Vikings was driving Favre's sudden change of heart about playing football in 2008. In the second part of an interview with Fox News, the 38-year-old quarterback said he knows his arrival in camp would cause a media circus. Such discussions would include the possibility of Favre leaving the Packers for their NFC North rivals in Minnesota. Favre retired after last season as the quarterback of the Green Bay Packers, but there have been reports that Brett wants to come back. Allegations of tampering are touchy subjects among professional sports franchises, and the penalties can include the loss of draft choices and fines. GRETA VAN SUSTEREN, FOX NEWS HOST: But first, part two of our interview with Packer legend Brett Favre. There is no doubt in my mind that the Pats would have won the Super Bowl had Charlie Weis been in charge of the offense.

Boston OF J.D. Drew wins All-Star game MVP award (Sports, 10 articles)
NEW YORK (Reuters) - The American League squeezed out a 4-3 victory over the National League in the 15th innings of the longest-ever All-Star game on Tuesday and extended their 12-year unbeaten streak in the Midsummer Classic. Michael Young lofted a one-out sacrifice fly to right field and Justin Morneau just beat the throw home by Corey Hart to end the four-hour, 50-minute marathon at Yankee Stadium, which seemed reluctant to say goodbye to baseball's best. The New York Yankees are moving from the House that Ruth Built, which opened in 1923, to a new stadium across the street next season and Tuesday's game was the last All-Star contest at the ground.

Posey, a 6-foot-8 forward who last season helped the Boston Celtics win their first title since 1986, agreed Wednesday to a $25 million, four-year contract with New Orleans, agent Mark Bartelstein said. WALTHAM, Mass. - All it took for Patrick O'Bryant to understand the significance of signing with the Boston Celtics was a look skyward at the team's training facility. That's where the 17th NBA championship banner now hangs instead of the white light shining on a blank patch of wall that once motivated players during practice.
Hawks lighten load vs. Central teams :: CHICAGO SUN-TIMES :: Blackhawks (Sports, 5 articles)

With the league changing its schedule format so that each team plays every other team at least once, the Hawks will play two fewer games against each of their Central Division rivals. The Hawks will face Detroit, Nashville, Columbus and St. Louis six times each, including the Jan. 1 Winter Classic at Wrigley Field against the Stanley Cup champion Red Wings.
